Thursday, April 13, 2017, 7:30 pm;
Reading at 7:30 followed by book signing and refreshments
“With stunning imagery and gentle, meditative music, Richmond conjures a sense of sacred wildness in all things. In a world as endangered by meanness and indifference as ours, no lesson seems more important.”
—Fred Marchant, Said Not Said
Please join us on Thursday, April 13 at 7:30 pm for a reading by Susan Edwards Richmond from her new book, Before We Were Birds, published by Adastra Press. The poems illuminate more than a decade of the poet’s fascination with the interactions of humans with wild nature. Richmond explores this kinship through close observation and immersion in the natural world, and by suggesting connections with animal spirit guides.
Enjoy Gail Erwin’s exhibit “Niche” in our front gallery, as well as artworks by Jane McKinnon Johnstone complementing Richmond’s poetry on display in our rear gallery. Jane’s monotype,”Submerged Nets,” is the cover art for Before We Were Birds.
